Learn the fundamentals of drawing in this multi-session class. We will learn how to draw in a representational way, using close observation. Working from still life, we will learn essential concepts such as perspective, composition, line, texture, positive & negative space, how to draw simple and complex objects, and how to work with dry mediums like pen and pencil. Students will also be encouraged to foster a sketchbook habit, which we will discuss in class.
Some feedback from previous students:
“Jenna was great! Very encouraging and I’m happy that by the end of the class, I have a few sketches I like. I appreciate from the beginning she mentioned wanting students to start a sketchbook habit.” –Student, Intro to Drawing, Winter 2025
“I found this class to be well organized, the exercises are really useful, and you offer a lot of supplemental things to help us learn. It has exceeded my expectations, and is one of the better art classes I have taken.” –Student, Intro to Drawing, Summer 2025
“I learned so much and it was a great introduction to drawing. You are a thorough, prepared, talented and patient teacher. Your presentations and handouts were impressively detailed. I will refer back to them. I’ll remember and appreciate this class for many years.” –Student, Intro to Drawing, Fall 2025.
