Hello! My name is Jenna Lechner (she/her), and I’m a freelance illustrator in Portland, Oregon, USA.
I love to create patterns, maps, and other illustrated educational materials, such as illustrated timelines and illustrated recipes. I also teach art; check out my “Classes & Events” page for more info about upcoming classes.

More about me:
I work in natural media like watercolor & pen and ink - along with the occasional Photoshop, & I have a soft spot for hand crafts, patterns, and print media. I love to create work about food and the environment.
I grew up amongst the rolling plains of eastern Montana, and I graduated from the University of Oregon, in Eugene, where I received a bachelor of fine arts degree in printmaking. I also studied atelier style drawing in Florence, Italy, and I studied at the University of Minnesota, Morris during my time in college.
When not painting, some of my favorite things to do are: boulder, hang out with my sweet blind greyhound dog, and read (before I was an illustrator, I was a freelance arts journalist).
I have a number of volunteer hobbies related to environmental education! I am a board member of the non-profit the Columbia Basin Basketry Guild - yes, such a thing exists! I am also a certified “Naturalist” (through the excellent Oregon Naturalist program at Oregon State University). And, I am working towards getting my yard certified in the Backyard Habitat Program, as well as a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (GNSI).
I’d love to hear from you! For commission inquiries, or to say hi, email: jennalechner@gmail.com
