Learn drawing in a supportive environment. This class will advance students from beginner to a more intermediate of artistic knowledge. We’ll draw from a variety of sources, including objects and sceneries. Students who are both interested in realism or abstraction are welcome. In class we’ll discuss: next-level shading, perfecting perspective, experimenting with different papers (like toned paper), and how to create a variety of textures in your drawing.
We’ll learn a variety of vocab to critically analyze art; students will share and discuss art in class, and students are given optional homework assignments each week. We will discuss maintaining a sketchbook practice in class, to help encourage you to explore the world around you and build your skill. Students will focus on building a body of work, and finding a way of working that they enjoy. This class is great for someone who has taken at least one art/drawing class before, specifically Intro to Drawing at OAC. It’s also good for those who feel like they need a refresher, and/or they’re not quite ready yet to dive into more complicated subjects like figure drawing & color.
